On December 1st 2019 new spa and swimming pool safety laws came into effect in Victoria to try and ensure the safety of young children around pools and spas.
Victorian homeowners with a swimming pool or spa capable of holding water of a depth greater than 300 mm are now required to register their pool or spa with their relevant council by 1st June 2020. They are also required to have their pool or spa safety barrier inspected and to lodge a certificate of barrier compliance every four years, in a move to prevent tragic accidents.
At Barrason’s Engineers, we appreciate this process could be a little confusing. We’re happy to remove the hassle of dealing with the council and register your pool or spa for you at no additional cost beyond the council’s registration fee.
Further, at a competitive rate, our experienced registered building surveyor can inspect your safety barrier and provide a list of necessary changes to comply with the relevant Australian Standard or issue a certificate of compliance should your barrier meet the requirements.
If you’d like our assistance, please get in contact with the team at Barrason’s by calling 0447 999 496 or by submitting a quote request and we’ll be happy to help you with these new changes.
Stay safe swimming this summer!
